Gabriel Gual – Fisioterapia

My name is Gabriel Gual (Biel), I have a PhD in Physiotherapy and I am specialized in injuries affecting the musculoskeletal system.
On this site I am presenting my services as a physiotherapist (USA: physical therapist). I am specialized in athletes and people with physical activity and sports related injuries. My office is located in Palma (Mallorca) where I offer treatments aimed to aid the recovery process of acute injuries, optimal treatments for chronic injuries, and programs addressed to reduce the risk of injury.
Sessions are initiated with a specific examination of the injury with the aim of being able to select the best treatment approach to the problem. Regarding to the treatments, I combine a first phase of active therapy where patients execute specific therapeutic exercises and a second one of passive therapies where patients receive different techniques of physiotherapy. The goal deals with boosting the physiological recovery process after an injury. Besides, patients receive a specific physical activity program aimed at restoring the function of the affected region and decreasing the risk of re-injuries. The aim of this method lies in being able to identify the affectation/s the patient is suffering from and, afterwards, treat them appropriately, either if they are acute or chronic injuries.

In my centre, I treat injuries that impair the musculoskeletal system, particularly muscle, tendon and ligament injuries, affecting the upper and lower limbs.
I have a wide expertise in sports related injuries since the 2003 and in the ultrasound (i.e. echography) examination of soft tissue injuries since 2013.
Treatments are based in: specific therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, thermotherapy by radio-frequency, and ultrasound-guided electro-puncture (Intratissue Percutaneous Electrolysis – EPI®), among other therapies. I also make a program for every physical activity the patients are allowed for working-out in a weekly scheduler.
In case I am not able to offer you the best option, either for the examination or treatment, I have a network of health professionals’ (physicians, physiotherapists, osteopaths, podiatrists, physical trainers…) to whom I can address you.

One of the first physiotherapy centres in Mallorca with
high resolution ultrasound evaluation.

Gabriel Gual Crespí
PhD in Physiotherapy, specialized in injuries of the musculoskeletal system.

Degrees: Bachelor in Physiotherapy (2002, URL), Master in Physiotherapy (2003, KUL), Postgraduate degree in the Return to Play phase after an injury in sports (2004, UAB), Specialized in Intratissue Percutaneous Electrolysis® technique (2011, CEREDE), and PhD in Physiotherapy (2016, UIC).
MMy experience as a physiotherapist started in the 2003 in Belgium while following the Master’s degree. There I could understand the importance that the very first interview with a patient has. An optimal evaluation of the injury is essential for the good outcomes of the treatment. It ensures the therapeutic intervention to have efficacy.
Since 2003 until nowadays I have worked for different people with injuries at the musculoskeletal system, mostly related with sports activities. During my university studies of physiotherapy I made a stage in the junior soccer teams of F.C. Barcelona, and after getting my degree I worked 5 years for the male Spanish alpine ski team and 3 years with the trial rider Adam Raga. My passion for physical activity and sports has driven myself to study about the most frequent related injuries in this scope.
Since the 2005 I have always combined my work as a physiotherapist with teaching in different universities. I have been working in 5 different universities of Spain (UAB, URL, UdG, UIC and UIB). Nowadays, I am a professor in the Faculty of Physiotherapy of the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) and in several Master and postgraduate courses too.
Finally, and submitted to my possibilities, I try to work in physiotherapy related investigations. My research work has focused on tendinopathies, especially the patellar tendon (PhD thesis).

Treatments are based on: therapeutic exercises,
manual therapy techniques and therapies based on electrical sources.

The physiotherapy centre is fully equipped with advanced technology for the examination and treatment of injuries that impair the musculoskeletal system.
Equipment: Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (GE Logiq-e®), Intratissue Percutaneous Electrolysis (EPI®), Thermotherapy through Radiofrequency (R200 3finstrumentación®), YoYo-Squat (YoYo-Technology®), among others.

Prices & Functioning

First session = 60€
Standard session = 50€

Physiotherapy sessions consist in a first examination and, based on its results, patients are instructed to perform different therapeutic exercises, followed by the application of different kinds of physical therapy treatment techniques. At the end of the sessions patients get advice about what to do at home until the next session.

If you need to change an appointment (day and/or time) I beg you let me to know it at least 24h in advance. Otherwise, the cancelled session will have to be paid the next day.
In case I cannot give you an appointment at the time you call, I save your contact information so to call you as soon as I have an available date. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you.

I offer training for physiotherapists in relation to the assessment and treatment of injuries of the musculoskeletal system at the level of the limbs, especially regarding the prescription of physical exercise for therapeutic and/or preventive purposes, field in which I have considerable experience.
